Primary amyloidoma of the brain parenchyma.

چکیده
Amyloidoma can occur within the brain parenchyma. Periventricular amyloidomas developed in a man aged 69 years as gadolinium-enhancing lesions on magnetic resonance imaging. The lesions were composed of amyloid AL lambda with congophilia resistant to potassium permanganate. There was no evidence of systemic amyloidosis or an underlying inflammatory or neoplastic disorder.

Brain amyloidoma with cerebral hemorrhage.
Unlike systemic amyloidosis, the diagnosis of brain amyloidoma without systemic manifestations is clinically challenging. Despite the availability of advanced brain imaging technology, such conditions are difficult to ascertain without brain biopsy or autopsy. We report the case of a 64-year-old woman who presented with frontal lobe syndrome with abnormal linear enhancement on brain magnetic re...
متن کاملPrimary amyloidoma of the brain: CT and MR presentation.
We present CT and MR imaging studies of a histologically proved case of a primary intraaxial amyloidoma of the brain. Noncontrast CT and T1-weighted MR images revealed increased density and hyperintensity respectively of amyloid tissue. There was mixed intensity on proton-density and T2-weighted sequences, and marked contrast enhancement was demonstrated on both modalities.
متن کاملMicroglia as a stem cell
Microglia is considered the only cell population of mesodermal origin, which comprises 10% of the cells in brain parenchyma. Recent neural stem cell (NSC) studies demonstrate that the brain has regenerative potential. NSCs do not give rise to microglial cells, however indicating that NSCs alone cannot complete the regenetion of the brain. Although the role of microglia is not fully understood, ...

We present a case report and a review of the literature. CASE PRESENTATION Our patient was a 64-year-old Caucasian man who was incidentally discovered to have a brain mass. He was found to have a cerebral amyloidoma. CONCLUSION After dis...
